MONTGOMERY, AL (WBRC) - The Alabama senate takes on the federal health care plan.
The Senate has voted to consider a health care bill today by Republican Senator Scott Beason of Gardendale. It would ensure no person, employer or health care provider could be compelled to participate in any health care system.
Beason says his bill would help with the lawsuit that Alabama's Attorney General and other state attorneys general have filed over the federal plan.
Opponents of Beason's bill say the federal plan would provide health care to many Alabamians who cannot afford it, including 400,000 who would qualify for Medicaid.
