Grocery sales tax removal bill on the way to the House

MONTGOMERY, AL (WBRC) - A renewed push to remove the four cent sales tax on groceries passed committee and is on its way to the House.
A vote is planned for April 8th.

This is the 12th year lawmakers have tried to pass such a bill.

The latest measure would pay for the tax cut by gradually removing the state income tax deduction on federal income tax for individuals making 120-thousand dollars a year and couples making 200-thousand.
That deduction would phase out for individuals at 150-thousand and couples at 300-thousand.
