BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) – A new software program that could help older drivers avoid car crashes is currently being tested at UAB.
The program, designed by InSight Software, uses a series of exercises to help improve driver reaction time and reflexes.
"The software will enable people to train themselves at home using their own computer", said UAB psychologist Karlene Ball, Ph.D., who is leading the study. Ball is a University Professor in the UAB Department of Psychology.
Earlier tests of the software showed that older adults benefited from the training and improved their memory, reasoning and speed of processing information.
