AL Supreme Court blocks Etowah County Sheriff bingo ruling effort

ETOWAH COUNTY, AL (WBRC) - The Alabama Supreme Court has blocked an effort by the Etowah County sheriff to get a legal ruling on electronic bingo machines in his county.

Sheriff Todd Entrekin sought the judgement in 2008 after two groups applied for permits to operate bingo facilities.

A judge later cleared the way for bingo, but the Etowah Baptist Association intervened and eventually filed an appeal with the State Supreme Court.

The court ruled Monday that there were no opposing interests in the Etowah County litigation and vacated the ruling.
