Child pornographer sentenced to 115 years

MONTGOMERY, AL (WBRC) - A Walker County man was sentenced Thursday to 115 years in prison for producing and possessing child pornography.

Alabama Attorney General Troy King, in a statement to FOX6 News, said Richard Conway Dobbins of Carbon Hill received life sentences for each of 115 counts of production of child pornography, as well as 10-year sentences for each of 196 counts of child pornography.  The sentences will run consecutively.

Dobbins plead guilty to the charges in January.

"Today we send a resounding message to child predators that the children in Alabama are precious and that our state law provides them with strong protection," said Attorney General King in the statement.  "Now we can obtain convictions against accused smut peddlers that are commensurate with the magnitude of their crimes."
