Delivery driver arrested for narcotics theft

HOOVER, AL (WBRC) - A former delivery driver was arrested Wednesday morning and charged with stealing pharmaceuticals.

Hoover Police, in a statement to FOX6 news, said Kelvin Lamar Armstrong, 49, of Midfield, was arrested Wednesday morning with help from the U.S. Marshals.  Armstrong is a former delivery driver for PharMerica pharmaceuticals in Hoover.

Police said on December 27, 2009, Armstrong began his delivery route from Hoover with $12,000 of prescription medications, including controlled narcotics, enroute to Huntsville.  The following day Armstrong reported he was forced off the interstate and robbed of the shipment in Cullman.

Police said their investigation revealed Armstrong never left the Birmingham area.

Armstrong was in the Hoover City Jail, awaiting transfer to the Jefferson County Jail, charged with theft of property and being held on $10,000 bond.
