TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) - A high school in Tuscaloosa was placed into lockdown Thursday morning after a teenager was found with a gun.
The incident happened at about 8:15 a.m. at Paul W. Bryant High School. Authorities said a student notified the school's resource officer about another student with a gun. The student resource officer then located and confronted the student. A brief struggle then ensued before the officer took control of the weapon and took custody of the student.
The school was immediately placed into lockdown and remained in lockdown until approximately 9:45 a.m.
Tuscaloosa Police said they have charged the student with possession of a weapon on a school campus. The student was removed from the school.
Tuscaloosa City Schools Assistant Superintendent Dorothy Richardson did not reveal the student's name, age, grade, or sex, but did say more information would be released at a later time.
