Hoover man charged with elderly woman assault

HOOVER, AL (WBRC) - A Hoover man has been charged in connection with the assault of an elderly woman inside her apartment.

Hoover Police, in a statement Wednesday to FOX6 News, said Tyrone Dwayne Owens, 24, of Hoover, has been charged with assault. Police said Owens kicked in the front door of the 77-year-old victim's apartment on Patton Chapel Road, ransancked the apartment and physically abused the woman.  

Police said it was several hours later before the victim was discovered. She was taken to the hospital with mulitple broken bones in her face.  Police said she had two surgeries and was in the hospital for 10 days.

Owens was in the Jefferson County Jail on $30,000 bond in connection with the burglary. Hoover Police said Owens was also jailed on burglary warrants from other cities.
