NORTHPORT, AL (WBRC) - A vote today in Tuscaloosa County could determine the fate of the county's plans for a new activity center.
City leaders in Northport have decided to support operational expenses at the proposed center.
The county wants to build the Faucett Brothers Activity Center just outside the Northport city limits.
The city's mayor had said he would not pay the $50,000 a year to maintain the facility, but the city council approved the expense.
"We're doing the best we can to make everyone happy," says Northport Mayor Bobby Herndon. "If they don't build it, I don't want them to blame Northport."
Tuscaloosa County commissioners will vote later today on the construction plans for the activity center.
