I was sexually abused when I was younger by like 3 or 4 different people, most people that my mom thought she could trust. I'm scared of the dark and afraid of a lot of things because of what happened to me when I was younger.

this week's editorial was very personal to me. I have a child who was victimized by her father, my sister's child. I was also as a teenager was victimized by a friend's grandfather. I believe that the issue of pedophilia is not nearly as discussed as it should be. The punishment for the crime is not what it should be. And, I feel like there's some many more people out there that are victimized that just don't come forward.

My child was molested for several years and I was not aware. The Sunday School teacher and also someone that he considered his grandfather. He suffered tremendously at the hands of this... Through therapy my child overcame some of the problems that come with speaking out. If your child seems awkward around somebody or something doesn't feel right, don't wait for the words. Follow your instinct, follow your gut because 9 times out of 10 it will be true.
