Suspect in Jeffco deputy shooting incident charged

Birmingham, AL (WBRC) - The man allegedly involved in the shooting of a Jefferson County deputy is now charged with attempted murder. The incident started yesterday morning when officers say the suspect, Donnell Foreman ran a red light.

Foreman then he went the wrong way on I-20/59 endangering himself and other drivers. He crashed into another car near the 31-st street exit. Authorities say after the crash, sheriff's deputy Brian Williams, was shot in the leg when his gun went off during a struggle with the suspect.

Birmingham police officers, who arrived to help then shot Foreman after they say he refused to put down a gun. Foreman is at UAB hospital on life support.
