MONTGOMERY, AL (WBRC) - Voters in one east Alabama district will head to the polls Tuesday. The vote is a special election to fill the State House District 40 seat vacated by the death of Lea Fite.
The candidates are Democrat Rickey Whaley, Republican K.L. Brown and Independent Carol Hagan. Both Brown and Whaley say a top priority will be jobs and helping the area recover from the recession. Hagan focuses on re-writing the tax system,
Tuesday's winner will serve in the current legislative session then will have to run again for a place in the general election.
