West Alabama Red Cross needing funds

TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) - In west Alabama, the Red Cross that serves the area says helping fire victims has seriously drained their funding.

Red Cross staffers say they have come to the aid of the victims of nearly 50 house and apartment fires in recent months. The increased need has put a financial strain on the West Alabama Chapter.

"I can tell you that nearly $50,000 has been issued in direct relief in our seven-county relief area," says Jenine Daly with the Red Cross. "We have already spent this year almost a total of what we spent over the course of our whole last fiscal year."
