Bingo ruling in Bessemer Cutoff

BESSEMER, AL (WBRC) - Arthur Green, the district attorney in the Bessemer Cutoff area, is giving electronic bingo operators in the district until 6pm to shutdown operations.

Today, circuit court judge Eugene Verin said his hands are tied after last night's Supreme Court ruling.  That ruling lifted a local judge's order that prevented Governor Riley's task force from raiding Victoryland and Country Crossing casinos.

Green says if the electronic bingo companies wait until after 6pm to shutdown, they can expect a visit from the head of Riley's illegal gambling task force, John Tyson.
