BESSEMER, AL (WBRC) - The trial continues today for Bessemer City Councilwoman Louise Alexander. Alexander is accused of pocketing money that was supposed to go to the city.
The Tuscaloosa businessman who blew the whistle on this case testified Wednesday. Stan Pate says he wrote the city checks totaling $17,000 after Alexander asked for help in purchasing items for students and teachers at Abrams Elementary. Pate told jurors he notified police when he found that another city council member did not know about the project.
