BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Three adults and two students were arrested Tuesday morning after a fight at Wenonah High School.

Birmingham police were called to the school around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday after a report of a fight and an injury. Officers say the fight ended with a parent stabbed with an ink pen by a student.

A source said the incident grew out of a situation that developed between two girls over the weekend. The mother of one student allegedly stood outside the doorway of a classroom after coming to the school to handle an unrelated issue with her daughter. After seeing the mother the other student called her mother, who then also came to the school.

Officers say the confrontation ended in a physical fight. Sgt. Williams described the incident as "isolated".
