Gubernatorial candidate Bill Johnson to spend Friday night at homeless shelter

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Republican candidate for Governor Bill Johnson and his wife Kathy plan to spend the night in homeless shelters in Birmingham.

Johnson plans to spend Friday night at the Old Firehouse Shelter and his wife will be at the Lovelady Center.

Johnson is a former member of the Birmingham City Council, where he said he worked on homeless issues.

The candidate said that to keep from displacing anyone during tough economic times, he and his wife have donated cots to the shelters.
