BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - The June 1st special election to replace William Bell on the county commission could face a court challenge.
The U.S. Justice Department pre-cleared the law which calls for a special election to fill a vacancy on the county commission.
If there is a runoff, there could be a problem. State law calls for a runoff in three weeks. The federal Help America Vote Act mandates six-weeks between the election and a runoff.
