BESSEMER, AL (WBRC) - A hearing resumes Wednesday for the company wanting to buy two funeral homes which have filed for bankruptcy protection.
Prime Acquisition Group is asking the court to approve the sale of Bessemer Brown Service and Brown West Chapel.
The decision could affect the pre-purchased burial plans that hundreds of people have bought.
Prime Acquisition Group says the new company will honor those contracts made after May 1st, 2002 or any in which payments were made after that date.
That is when a new state law went into effect that regulated such plans.
For any contracts made before May 2002, the new company will offer some benefits.
The hearing resumes at nine this morning in federal bankruptcy court.
