BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) – On Thursday, U.S. District Judge Karon Bowdre sentenced a Birmingham man to 20 years in prison for allegedly transporting a 9-year-old across state lines for the purpose of sexual conduct.
37-year-old Ronald Loyd Whitworth will serve the 20 years in accordance with the plea agreement he made with the court in September.
Whitworth will be placed on supervised release after serving his prison sentence and will not be allowed unsupervised contact with children under 18. He will also register as a sex offender.
U.S. Marshals arrested Whitworth as a fugitive in Linwood, Washington in August of 2008. He was living under the name "Richard Dailey."
