HOBSON CITY, AL (WBRC) - A three alarm fire has destroyed Hobson City's biggest attraction.
The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office believes the fire that destroyed the I-20 bingo hall is suspicious. Oxford Fire Chief Gary Sparks says the roof was partially caved in when his firefighters arrived on the scene Tuesday night shortly after seven.
The mostly wooden 35-year-old building was a total loss. It had been home to the I-20 bingo operation since the early 1980s and a more recent bingo hall that operated in 2007.
Sparks says the owner had no insurance and had reported a series of break-ins.
