BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Polls are now open across Birmingham, as voters cast ballots in a special election for Birmingham mayor.
Jefferson County Commissioner William Bell is battling attorney Patrick Cooper for the city's top job. The winner will serve the remaining two years of Larry Langford's term, after he was convicted on federal bribery charges in 2009.
Birmingham Southern College political professor Natalie Davis expect a good turnout for Tuesday's vote, and expects the tight battle between the two candidates to continue right up until the polls close.
"This is going to be a close finish, no question about that," Davis said Tuesday morning on Good Day Alabama.
