JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) - Jefferson County's job tax refund costs grew by one million dollars Friday.
A judge ruled that the county will be responsible for the costs to provide the refunds to taxpayers that paid the job tax, even though it was declared illegal.
The judge also ruled that 12% interest will be in effect. That means that Jefferson County will have to pay $16 ,000 per day until the matter is solved.
Jefferson County is appealing the job tax ruling to the State Supreme Court.
