Missing Alabama missionary makes contact after surviving Haiti quake

PORT AU PRINCE, HAITI (WBRC) – The family of an Alabama missionary says they have been contacted by the missing man.

23-year-old Roger Eason's plane landed in Haiti on Tuesday morning. Eason was supposed to take another flight north, but it was delayed by weather. Placed in a hotel in Port Au Prince, Eason made contact with his family before the massive earthquake struck, but was not able to contact them again for a while afterwards.

Eason was able to make contact with his family once he was safe in the Dominican Republic. He will fly home soon.

Eason is the co-founder of the Bedouins International Missions. He is a former UAB student and worked as a substitute teacher at Hoover High School.

Anyone with information about Eason is asked to make contact with his family by Facebook or Twitter.
