Texting ban expected to pass in legislature

MONTGOMERY, AL (WBRC) - The proposed statewide ban on texting while driving is making progress in the legislature.

The bill passed out of a House committee Wednesday.

As written, it would impose a $25 fine for the first offense, a $50 fine for the second, and a $75 fine for every violation after.

A similar bill passed the State House last year, but died in the Senate.
