Editorial: Education vs. Going Pro

The following is an editorial from FOX6 WBRC-TV General Manager Lou Kirchen, first aired on Tuesday, January 12, 2010:

There is much to celebrate.  The national college football championship is Alabama's.  The glittering trophy is in the house.  And prospects for next year look good.  Many of this year's winning team will be returning including quarterback, Greg McElroy and Heisman trophy winning running back, Mark Ingram.

But not everyone will be back, like middle linebacker and college junior, Rolando McClain, who will participate in the NFL draft this year.  So the question is...is the system working as it should? Regarding the young men in our college football programs who turn pro.  Should the NFL be providing them that option before graduation?  I'm just asking the question.  What do you think?
