Fatal crash kills one and injures pregnant woman

BLOUNT COUNTY, AL (WBRC) - State authorities continue to investigate a fatal crash that happened along Highway 160 in Blount County Wednesday night.

38-year-old Jefferey Morrison of Albertville was killed in the wreck. Amy Taylor of Kimberly was injured.   She is also pregnant.

Morrison's death is the third along the stretch of highway in four months. Those who live in the area say the wreck emphasizes the need for the state to widen and improve the road. Those at the state level have stressed that even if the roads conditions are improved, it's drivers who must do better in slowing down and paying more attention.  They say preliminary information from Wednesday's accident indicates that wreck, like most others along Highway 160 relates to human error, not highway factors.

Amy Camp of the advocacy group "Highway 160 Promise" says she does not want that to confuse the issue.  "Yes, people cause accidents," Camp says.  "But highway conditions contribute to the severity of those accidents."
