PASADENA, CA (WBRC) - The parking lots outside the Rose Bowl quickly turned into a sea of crimson, orange and white Thursday as Alabama and Texas fans gathered to root their teams to victory in the college football national championship game.
Thousands of fans were already tailgating at the stadium before lunchtime Thursday. Lots of tents were setup around the stadium, too, where fans enjoyed the warm sunshine and visiting with friends.
No. 1 Alabama, 13-0, will play No. 2 Texas, 13-0, for the national college football title tonight.
Many fans were at the stadium without tickets to get inside. Some ticket executives estimated as many as 10,000 Alabama fans would be outside the stadium Thursday without tickets to get in.
Fans of all ages were at the stadium. Many Alabama parents were proud to bring their children to the game, allowing their children a chance to experience their first national championship game. Alabama last won a national championship in 1992.
