CALHOUN COUNTY, AL (WBRC) - Voters in one east Alabama district head to the polls for a special election Tuesday.
The election is in House District 40, the seat vacated by the death of Representative Lea Fite. The Democrat from Jacksonville died at his home on October 26th.
Tuesday's election is the party primary. Only one Democrat is running for the seat, but there are five different Republicans who want the job. If there is no run-off needed, the general election for this seat will be held February 16th.
House District 40 covers all of Calhoun County north of Anniston including Jacksonville
