Fox6 on Your Side Reporter Ronda Robinson explains how to get rid of unwanted mail! If you have ever bought a car, a house, registered to vote or used a credit card - it is likely your personal information has been sold and put on a mailing list.

According to Joseph Breckenridge, spokesperson for the United States Postal Service, there are ways to reduce but not eliminate mail. In fact, it is illegal for a Postal Service employee to prevent any piece of mail from being delivered -  even at the request of the recipient.

You can however register to get your information removed from national mailing lists by contacting the mail preference service at Direct Marketing Association, Post Office Box 282 Carmel, NY 10512 or check out the website at

Your name and address will be placed on a delete file which is made available to companies through this organization.
