GAINESVILLE, FL (WBRC) - University of Florida head coach Urban Meyer is stepping down as head coach citing health reasons. Meyer was hospitalized after the SEC Championship game against Alabama for dehyrdation.
According to ESPN.com, Urban Meyer will coach the Gator's last game on January 1st in the Sugar Bowl against Cincinnati. In a press release issued by the Gators athletic director, Meyer says he has pushed aside health problems for long enough, and that he believes his health and family should take a higher priority.
He said he will speak to the media tomorrow afternoon at a press conference.
