BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - A local man is making the letter "A" more popular than ever and it has everything to do with the Alabama Crimson Tide.
David Yacu is painting "A's" in front yards across the area, for residents to say Roll Tide as the Tide travels to Pasadena, CA for the BCS National Championship Game.
"I'm just glad I'm out here helping people celebrate Alabama's success, and I just feel great that they feel great."
Yacu uses marking paint, for grass, which is permanent and doesn't wash off easily. It's actually the same kind of paint used on football fields across the U.S...only now it's being used in front yards across the Metro Birmingham area.
The Belt family couldn't make the trip to Pasadena, so decided to get one painted in their front lawn. Daughter Chaise says as they have a party to watch the big game on January 7th, she hopes everyone will take a picture with the "A".
Anna Cook plans to surprise her husband with the letter. The only catch, Anna isn't even an Alabama Fan! "I am not an Alabama fan..my husband is. Were a divided household, but I thought this would be a good Christmas gift. I thought i'd show a little bit of sportsmanship."
