BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - As you may know, more than 2.1 million drop-side cribs by Stork Craft Manufacturing of Canada have been voluntarily recalled. The crib's drop-side plastic can break creating a space where infants can be trapped, injured and possibly even suffocate. Parents have been asked to stop using the crib and contact the company for a free repair kit. it seems this largest crib recall in us history comes with a new set of problems.
Several viewers have complained that they are having a hard time contacting the company by phone or on the website. Parents tell Fox6 on Your Side reporter Ronda Robinson that the toll free number provided by the company, 1-877-274-0277, is constantly busy. Others say the website, Storkcraft.com shuts down when they try to send an email request.
Fox6 on Your Side has tried contacting Stork Craft through customer service and the corporate office but the numbers were busy.
Fox6 on Your Side managed to track down a representative with the Consumer Product Safety Commission who confirmed that the Stork Craft website did crash but that it should now be working properly. However, if consumers continue to have trouble contacting the company can call the CPSC's recall hotline at 1-800-638-2772 and they will pass your information along.
