BJCTA running out of money

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Grim news from the Birmingham Jefferson County Transit Authority Tuesday morning. William Copling, the interim executive director of the BJCTA told city council that if the BJCTA does not get more funding by March of 2010 routes and services may need to be cut.

At Tuesday's council meeting the BJCTA was given five-point-two million dollars, the BJCTA had originally requested nine million dollars.

Copling says he is confident the city will come through with additional funding in order for the current bus service to be maintained.
