UA’s Rolando McClain wins Butkus Award

TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) – Football Hall of Famer Dick Butkus and his son Matt made a surprise visit to the University of Alabama on Tuesday. The two were there to present UA's Rolando McClain with the 25th Annual Dick Butckus Award.

McClain received 66 total points and finished ahead of Brandon Spikes of Florida, Sean Weatherspoon of Missouri , Sergio Kindle of Texas and Eric Norwood of South Carolina.

MClain leads the UA defense which is ranked second nationally in total defense and rush defense. He finished the regular season with 101 tackles, 12.5 for a loss, four sacks and two interceptions. McClain was also responsible for all defensive calls and audibles.

In 2008, McClain was considered for the award as a sophomore.
McClain is the second player to win the Butkus Award at Alabama and the third to win it in the SEC.
