Special election held to determine new Birmingham mayor

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Tuesday is decision day for Birmingham. Polls open at seven for voters to pick the city's next mayor in a special election.

The winner will serve the remaining two years of Larry Langford's term. Former Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford was convicted on multiple counts of corruption in October.
13 candidates are vying for the spot. Polls will be open from seven to seven.

Candidate Ernie Dunn passed away last week but his name will still appear on the ballot.

Analysts say a runoff is likely and voter turnout will be important in determining who wins.
