Recent police shooting make officers prepare for danger

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - More details have been given about two separate shootings involving police.

Birmingham police say 26-year-old Eric Wilson was questioned Sunday morning when he allegedly pointed a gun at police. An officer then shot Wilson, who is now in the Birmingham City Jail, charged with attempted murder.

Also this weekend, a suspect shot at Talladega police after being pulled over for a traffic stop. Officers returned fire and the man was transported to UAB.

Talladega Police Chief Alan Watson says these recent incidents remind officers of how dangerous their jobs are. "I'm not indicating it's a good thing," says Watson. "But if it makes you think about safety and prepare for safety, then maybe something good can come out of it"

The ABI is investigating the two shootings.
