Tuscaloosa tree lighting, christmas parade set for Dec. 7

TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) - The 2009 West Alabama Christmas tree lighting and parade is set for Monday night.

The Tuscaloosa County Park and Recreation Authority, in an email Tuesday to FOX6 News, said the theme for this year's parade is "Tinsel in T'town."  Volunteers of Kentuck are this year's grand marshals.

The parade, in its 34th year, is the largest in West Alabama.  It begins at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

The christmas tree will be lit at 5:15 p.m. on the steps of the Tuscaloosa County Courthouse.

The parade will start at the corner of Greensboro Ave. and 11th, travel north on Greensboro, then turn right on University Blvd. and travel east until it ends at 20th Ave.
