Victim, shooter identified in Helena shootings

HELENA, AL (WBRC) - Helena police on Tuesday identified the people involved in Monday's shooting deaths.

In a statement to FOX6 News, Helena police said Martha Wisham, 66, wand her husband, Ken Wisham, 71, were killed in what appeared to be a murder-suicide.

Police said at approximately 5:15 p.m. Monday, officers were called to the Wisham home on Laurel Woods Lane to check on "the welfare of a distressed female" identified as Martha Wisham.  Upon arriving, officers knocked on the door and were told by a female to leave the premises.  Shortly thereafter they heard a gunshot from inside the residence.

Police said officers forced entry and found Mrs. Wisham dead with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.  Upon searching the residence, officers found Mr. Wisham dead in an upstairs bedroom.  Police said he had been shot twice in the torso.

The motive for the shootings is still under investigation.
