SHELBY, AL (WBRC) – Shelby Elementary School in Shelby County has announced that they are the recipients of a $500 Fuel Up to Play Mini Grant from the Alabama Action for Healthy kids.
The grant will be used to educate students on the importance of nutrition and exercise.
Activities will take place before, during and after school.
Students will receive a healthy tip for fruits and vegetables each day during their morning newscast. Some of the money will be used to purchase real fruits and veggies for students to use as on-set props.
Also, students that wait for buses after school will be able to participate in activities like walking the track on nice days and line dancing in the gym for rainy days.
