Birmingham police officer arrested

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - A Birmingham police officer faces a murder charge, after police say he caused the death of another driver. Investigators say 36-year-old James Kendrick could have been under the influence of alcohol while driving.

He served for 12 years with the Birmingham police department, assigned to the north precinct. Kendrick turned himself into investigators and has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation. The victim is Derric Rush of Hoover.
