Gardendale bank robbery foiled

Gardendale police, in a statement Monday to FOX6 News, said officers received a tip Friday about a possible bank robbery that was to occur at the Family Security Credit Union in Gardendale. Police, with the help from the FBI, staked-out the bank on Saturday and when the suspects approached the bank Saturday morning, police said they were quickly apprehended without incident. No one was hurt.

Police said warrants were obtained Monday from the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office against three individuals for Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Robbery:

Sanford Maurice Phillips, 20, Birmingham

Erica Danielle Ellington, 19, Birmingham

All three suspects were being held on $60,000 bond.
