Pool hall owner found beaten and dead in Cullman County

CULLMAN COUNTY, AL (WBRC) - Authorities are investigating the death of a well-known Cullman business owner. He was apparently beaten to death.

Seventy-two year-old Jimmy Hayes, also known as J.T., was the owner of Rack and Que, the only pool hall in Cullman.

The Cullman County Sheriff's Department says his body was found Friday by a relative on the living room floor of his mobile home in the Fairview Community.

Authorities say he died from blunt force trauma.

"He may have had a few disputes along the way with individuals here and there, but no one that we can single out and say that's our suspect, " said Cullman County Sheriff Tyler Roden. "Right now it's an issue where we can't rule out any motive."

"He was liked. Some people didn't like him, some people liked him. He's helped me out, I'm sure he's helped other people out," said Ricky Malin.

Investigators are working some leads. There were signs of forced entry to the back door of the home and valuables were also taken.
