H1N1 claims 20th victim in Alabama

MONTGOMERY, AL (WBRC) - The H1N1 virus is now blamed for 20 deaths in Alabama. The latest victims are a woman in her 70's in Morgan County and a Montgomery woman. Three of the deaths in Alabama have involved children ranging from ages 20 months to 18 years old.

Meanwhile, the State Department of Public Health is going to allocate incoming swine flu vaccine to priority groups in Alabama because of the vaccine's short supply. The vaccine will first go to these groups: providers who can vaccinate children 6 months through 4 years old, children 5-18 years old with underlying health problems, pregnant women, caregivers of babies under 6 months old and health care workers. The department is asking doctors to reserve vaccine for those groups until bigger supplies arrive.
