JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) - Next week, Jefferson County employees will get their first check since returning to work. The question is: will there be enough money to pay them?
On Wednesday, the county finance director informed commissioners the situation is dire, but he believes there will be enough funds to cover paychecks next week. Commissioners understand it will be close. "As we know money is coming about the tenth. We usually have it reconciled after the 20th. We are just getting the money into the account. I think we will be okay. It's going to be close we know that," stated Commissioner Bobby Humphryes
