BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - In a press release issued on Tuesday, Regions Bank stated that they would be closing 121 branches.
The release says the closing is due to the branches' proximity to other location or opportunity to improve performance.
Closings will take place in early 2010 and Regions says they will have "minimal customer impact."
A Regions spokesperson told FOX6 News that only 3 banks would be closing in Alabama. Those locations are expected to be in Montgomery, Huntsville and Cullman.
Regions says they expect to save $21 million annually from the closings.
