Mountain Brook suffers string of burglaries

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL (WBRC) - Mountain Brook police are warning people about a string of recent home break-ins. They have increased patrols and are urging homeowners to take measures to protect their property. The most recent ones have happened in the Crestline area.

Sgt. Michael Herren with the Mountain Brook Police says the break-ins are happening in the daytime and that thieves are getting in and out quickly, taking property like jewelry and electronics. In some cases, break-ins are happening multiple times in one day. Sgt. Herren says burglaries normally pick up this time of year as the holiday season approaches.

Mountain Brook resident Shelia Haas says three of her neighbors were among those hit.

Break-ins are a county wide problem and law enforcement agencies in Jefferson County are working together, sharing information to make arrests.
