Richard Scrushy back in Alabama

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Imprisoned HealthSouth founder and former CEO Richard Scrushy is back in Alabama, and will be in court Thursday.

Scrushy will be in a Birmingham courtroom Thursday morning, where lawyers for HealthSouth shareholders will question the company founder about where his assets are.

A civil court judge found Scrushy liable for $2.8 billion - the amount of the accounting fraud that nearly forced the company into bankruptcy.  But plaintiff's attorneys contend Scrushy may have improperly transferred some assets to his relatives.

Scrushy was transported from Texas where he is serving time on an unrelated corruption conviction.
