Some Jeffco workers returning on Monday

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) - Hundreds of Jefferson County workers return to their jobs Monday. They have been on unpaid administrative leave for weeks because of the county's money problems.

A county worker that has served as a spokesman for the employees association says to expect a bigger voice from his co-workers. Michael Morrison came on Good Day Alabama on Friday morning and said that weeks without a county paycheck have driven some workers into money problems. Morrison says others have taken new jobs.

He says the employee association will likely have a more political voice both with county commissioners and state lawmakers. County workers return to the job Monday, but will have a reduced paycheck. The county says it can only afford a 32-hour work week through the end of the year.
