ALBERTVILLE, AL (WBRC) - An Albertville woman was arrested for Endangering the Welfare of a Child after transporting a child inside a cardboard box on top of her minivan.

Albertville Police say on the morning of September 30th, they responded to a call about a minivan with a large cardboard box on the roof with a child inside the box. Officers stopped the van on Highway 431 and found a 13-year-old female in the box.

The driver of the van, 37-year-old Jackie Denise Knott, told officers that "the box was too big to go inside the van and she would be able to hold it down if she was inside the box." Knott also added that "the box was tied to the van with a clothes hanger" when questioned about the safety of the child.

Knott was taken into custody and transported to the Albertville City Jail.

The child was turned over to a relative at the scene.

DHR has been notified.
